My First Serious Painting- Pumpkins One

This is a value study for my painting class. I had to draw it out, and make a black and white value painting. A value study/ painting is the light and dark tones of an object. For example, anything that is white or lighter grey is a light color, or where light is directly hitting an object. Anything black or dark is where there are shadows, or just really dark colors, anywhere the light won't hit. It took me a few days in class and a few hours at home last night to finish this, but my teacher, Mr. G, used my painting for an example for another student who is two years older than myself. So I must have done a decent job. Click for a larger image!
